COMPANY HISTORY <<<< BACK Société Pour L’Exportations des Sucres was founded in 1894 and began its activities with the importation of raw sugar from Cuba, the Caribbean and West Africa into Europe. As the European sugar market moved to exporting in the mid 20th century, our Antwerp base was at the centre of the continent’s sugar export market. SA Sucre Export/Suiker Export NV, better known as Group Sopex, grew from these foundations, and in 1989 launched its London operations. Sucre Export London Ltd is now an expert trading company at the centre of world trade in both raw and white sugars. The company took the decision in the late 1980's to diversify into coffee. Our business is truly global - our London team of specialist traders works side by side a network of offices in the EU, West Africa, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Our local expertise in commodity trading, marketing and shipping allows us to read and take advantage of the market, to the direct benefit of our customers. As we continue to attract new customers, Sucre Export London Ltd, as a century-old, family-run operation, maintains personal business relationships with our customers and partners in a relaxed atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. |
